Currently August 2017

Currently August 2017 . . .

Snacking on – Blueberries, So Delicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk Yogurt as well as almonds and cashews. Although I’m beginning to add foods back in from being on the Interstitial Cystitis elimination diet, I’m still playing it safe with my snacks. I love putting frozen blueberries and a few drops of honey in the yogurt – it freezes the yogurt so it’s almost like eating ice cream!

Anticipating – The start of the new school year. Our school district is going back earlier than usual this year so that the school year can end before Memorial Day. My official day back is August 9 although I have to give a few staff developments before that date. The students start on Wednesday, August 16. It’s nice to start mid-week so the new routine will be eased into slowly! This is making for a shorter summer than normal but it sure will be nice come next May!

Borrowing – My last few hours of summer vacation.   🙄

Admiring –  Teachers everywhere! Although I was a classroom teacher for 16 years but my current job is Instructional Technology Coach.  So I’m not responsible for a class full of students. The teachers at our school spend weeks getting their classroom ready. They buy school supplies and materials out of their own money.  And they would do anything to make a difference in the lives of their students. Teachers, no matter what grade, private, public or home school are the most dedicated people you will ever meet!

Purchasing – A new mattress that was long overdue. We’ve had the same firm mattress for many years. With my arthritis, sleeping on it was beginning to hurt my joints. So we purchased a plush pillow top. What a difference it has made! I am waking up without hurting joints! Yay!

How about you? What are you currently up to?

  1. We’re currently traveling full-time in our RV. And I’m currently enjoying your blog. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I think it’s great that you’re going back earlier in order to get out earlier. Where I work, everyone is so traditional and won’t even consider starting before Labor Day. Luckily, my school has a/c, but most schools don’t and it gets so hot in June in Massachusetts. I love how you eat so healthy.

  3. We bought a new mattress when we moved, and that thing is fantastic! It’s amazing what a difference a good mattress makes!

  4. It’s blueberry season here in Maine, and I love it! Also – just made a couple of batches of raspberry jam! Summer is so wonderful.
Thanks for this great summary of your July.

  8. I like frozen grapes but I’ve never tried frozen blueberries–they sound really good though. We always have some around because my 9 month old LOVES them. My husband is a teacher and school starts around here about the same time. It feels so early!!

  9. Having a new mattress is heaven Roseanne I know because I have back problems. Thanks for sharing what is happening in your world with us at #BloggersPitStop. Have a great weekend!

We also love blueberries.. yum… ours are done for the year. The summer has gone by so quickly!

  11. Yay for new mattresses and easing into the new school year slowly. I am a substitute librarian and have been waiting to see if I will get called for a position right from the start of the year. Last year, I worked on the first day of school and the last and a whole lotta days in between.

Enjoy your last few days of summer. Rest, relax and spend time doing things you like to do.

Hope you have a fabulous first day back.

  12. Blueberries are so perfect this time of year. I simply can’t eat enough of them. I am anticipating the arrival of granite countertops to replace my old laminate and because of the high cost I won’t be busying anything else for a while.

  13. I am loving Blueberries too – I have them in the garden and they barely make it back to the house 🙂

  14. bless you and glad you got the new pillow top! currently gathering and pouring into my first official book launch team – fun and a little scary. just listened to a super podcast from Reality SF on Worry – check it out while on the pillow top! and finalizing blog batching through Oct. Oh, and overnight company and laundry and packing for a wedding in Chicago (got the dress) and a week in Iowa in August. Enough said. PS i taught hs english 10 years a very long time ago. I don’t miss the sharpened pencils. I do love my students – they are so very old now! ha!

  15. I miss snacking on fresh blueberries this year. We’ve bought a few but with three boy they don’t usually last very long in the house. We used to pick our own; as much as we wanted and bring home buckets of them! This year the gypsy moths ate the trees bare. So currently I am snacking more on peaches.

  17. Hi Roseann, Thank you for sharing your August with us at Party in Your PJ’s. I hope you have a wonderful school year!

  18. What a fun little post. I’m currently wishing that I had some blueberries, loving my new mattress, feeling a little sad that this is the first year that I don’t have any children going back to school, but am still grateful for the educators that are going to be educating my grandchildren. Thanks for sharing at Sew It Cook It Craft It link party.
