National Cherry Pie Day
National Cherry Pie Day
National Cherry Pie Day is celebrated on February 20 which just happens to coincide with President’s Day this year. It seems fitting to celebrate this national day on a day we honor George Washington. Although the cherry tree story is only a myth, George Washington was fond of cherries.
I’ve included a few recipes for making fresh cherry pie. Or you could do like I do and buy a Pillsbury pie crust and a couple cans of cherry pie filling. Cherry pie is my husband’s favorite and I make them frequently for him. If you are really short on time you could always stop and pick one up at your local store! If you enjoy cherry pie, I hope you get to celebrate it on February 20!
This website includes a “why it works” section which I found fascinating!

Any day is a good day to eat pie! Cherry or any other!
I adore cherry pie, although sadly my hubby really doesn’t! He had an unfortunate cherry pie incident in France when he was a little boy. Apparently they don’t always pit the cherries before they make a pie or clafoutis as they feel the pits add flavour. A bit dangerous though!! These recipes look lovely – perhaps I’ll just make a mini version for me, and an apple pie for my husband! Sharing on Twitter and the Hearth and Soul Facebook page later today. Thank you so much for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Link Party, Roseann. Have a lovely week!
